He also pointed out that the constituency has suffered a lot of damages as a result of fire outbreak both in the markets and residential buildings, noting that it touches him whenever such happened.
According to him,”I want to build 4 fire service centers in Onitsha South Local Government, this one now is in Fegge, the other 3 would be at Odoakpu, Woliwo and Bridgehead so that it would go round to the 4 communities in Fegge, I think it would help a lot.
“It would also be of help to our neighbors like Onitsha North, Okpoko, Ogbaru LG, Awada, Idemili South, even Asaba, Delta State and others. It is not right to be hearing of fire out breaks here and there and the unavailability of fire fighting trucks, late coming and other reasons.
“I want to also use this medium to advice our people to be very careful on electricity, gas, burning of one thing or the other at unnecessary places and other things that might cause fire outbreak”Orji posited.
In his words, the contractor in charge of the project, Engr. Onyeka Ezebuike, Works Department, Onitsha South Local Government Area disclosed that the project is 80% completion, pointed out that by the beginning of next month, June, it would be completed.
According to Ezebuike, “We are moving, we met a lot of challenges but also tackled them. On the foundation, we met a very terrible topology here, the obstacles were nothing to write home about, a lot of debris, metal, pieces of clothes but we use our professional idea to solve the equation.
“We tried our best to reinforce it, employed a lot of technical ideas here by making a ticker blinding, make a mark with rods and concrete to reinforce it, add it with some blocks again, do another reinforcement at ground base, after that, we kicked up the foundation , put another casting on the foundation there, a very strong one with a good mixture and we start laying blocks.
“It is not easy at all but we have conquered what we met on the ground, what we saw at the beginning wanted to discourage us but as God may have it, we did our best, trying to put it up”,he said.
