Onitsha Bids Farewell to Fearless Police Commander, DCP Chidiebere Nzota

The people of Onitsha and beyond gathered to bid farewell to the outgoing Police Area Commander, DCP Chidiebere Nzota, who has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The send-off ceremony was a testament to Nzota’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime and restoring peace in the commercial hub of Anambra State.
Nzota’s tenure was marked by significant achievements, including the eradication of kidnapping and armed robbery in Onitsha. His efforts earned him the praise of stakeholders, including the Chairman of Onitsha Main Market, Chijioke Okpalugo, who described him as a “crime burster”.
“He brought watertight security to Onitsha, and the notorious Upper Iweka is now secured,” Okpalugo said. “We are happy that he is promoted, but sad that he is leaving Onitsha.”
The state chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, hailed Nzota as the most effective Police Area Commander in Onitsha’s history. “He fought and suppressed criminals without losing a single police officer,” Ezekwueme said.
Nzota’s successor is expected to build on his legacy, as he assured that his departure would not sever ties with the community. “My exit does not stop our relationship,” he said.
The event featured masquerade displays, gift presentations, and a heartfelt tribute from the officers and men of the Onitsha Police Command, who praised Nzota’s fatherly leadership.
Nzota’s wife, Lolo Osodieme Angela Chidi Nzota, thanked God for her husband’s promotion and praised his selfless service to the people.
