Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, Worldwide has called for caution over the reported arrest of the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

OYC spoke in a statement by its President-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

Odogwublog reports that earlier in the day, there were reports that Okorocha and his wife were nabbed by the Economic and Financial Crimes and Commission, EFCC.

But the EFCC, through its Spokesman, Tony Orilade, described the report as ‘fake news.

He said, ”Such report that Okorocha and wife have been arrested is fake news, disregard it.”

While speaking on the developments, Isiguzoro said the OYC had been watching keenly “the unfolding drama, the political intrigues and witch-hunting of the former Governor.”

He said while the group was not obstructing the constitutional duties of EFCC, it was “worried over the continuous ill treatment meted politically against the Igbo, as well as the conspiracy against Igbo Presidency Project by those who tactically wish to silence Ndigbo politically.

“We say with every certainty that all these hullabaloo are about 2023 Igbo Presidency Project. It’s confirmed that there’s clandestine plan to silence potential Igbo Presidential materials ahead of the 2023 election.”

Isiguzoro said the OYC was calling for “arrest of other sacred cows in the leadership of the APC. Let them extend it to all other former governors and those in APC that had in one way or the other abused the commonwealth of the people.”
