Okopoly students emerge top in tax quiz competition in Anambra

Students of Federal Polytechnic Oko (FPO) popularly known as Okopoly have emerged winners of a quiz competition organized for members of the tax club, a student body for promoting tax matters in Anambra State.

The quiz was organized by the Society for Women in Taxation (SWIT), an organ of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria (CITN) for Okopopy students and their counterparts from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

The four winners who are students of FPO (Okopoly) were: Chibuzor Muoto (First), Joseph Felix (Second), Onuoha Cynthia (Third), and Ani Chiamaka (Fourth). However, Nwachukwu David and Egolum Oluebube both from Unizik won consolation prizes in the keenly contested quiz competition.

The SWIT team led by its Anambra State Coordinator, Dr. Mrs Ifeoma Obieri, during their visit to the Head of Accountancy Department, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Emmanuel C. Ezenwafor said the interaction was to sensitize the students on taxation matters and related issues.

Responding, Dr. Ezenwafor appreciated the SWIT members for their sacrifices in sensitizing the public on tax and related issues and prayed for the government at all levels to partner with them for the benefit of society. 

He appealed to the SWIT members to assist in the sponsorship of the Tax Club at FPO to boost the morale of the students to  catch more young persons in the drive for a better society through tax information that will eventually breed development.

The HoD thanked the Polytechnic Rector, Engr Francisca Nwafulugo, for providing conducive environment for academic learning and overall-wellbeing of staff and students.

Earlier, Federal Polytechnic Oko Tax Club president, Miss Happiness Offor, expressed appreciation to the HoD Accountancy Department Oko, Dr. Ezenwafor,  Dr. Mbonu, and the SWIT team for the support being given to them. 

Highlights of the event were the presentation of prizes to winners and a group photograph with the SWIT team. Other students from both Federal Polytechnic Oko and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka were on the ground to witness the event.
