Oko Poly bestows Ubah with fellowship award as lawmaker splashes N2.5m on best-graduating students

The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State has conferred fellowship award to lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah.

Ubah was honoured with two other distinguished personalities namely Proprietor of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Mr. Innocent Chukwuma and a businessman, Mr. Chidozie Nwankwo at the 19th Convocation ceremony of the Polytechnic.

Speaking shortly after the award, Ubah appreciated the Rector, Management and Staff of the institution for finding him worthy for the award, pledging his commitment to advocating for quality education and creating opportunities for the students to excel.

He said, “I was honoured with a Fellowship Award which is the highest Award given by the Polytechnic.

“This Award serves as a reminder of the importance of education and the role it plays in shaping our society.

“As the Senator of Anambra South Senatorial District in which Oko, the host community of the Polytechnic is located and as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I am committed to advocating for quality education and creating opportunities for our youth to excel.

“I am happy that our efforts to exempt the staff of this great institution and other tertiary institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) was fruitful.

“As a ranking member of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, I will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the interests of the academic and non academic staff of tertiary institutions, as well as students are adequately protected at the Red Chamber.

“I will also continue to work closely with TETFund and other relevant agencies to ensure that more capital projects are not only attracted but also executed in various Tertiary Institutions especially in Federal Polytechnic, Oko which is within my Senatorial District.

“This is indeed a momentous occasion for me and I am deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the Rector, Management, Staff, and Students of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, for presenting me with this esteemed award.

“I am truly humbled and honoured to be recognized by such a renowned institution.

The lawmaker also made a donation of N2.5million to 11 best graduating students of the institution. He said while 10 of them would receive N2 million, Miss Ebere Okafor, the best graduating student in her department, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues would smile home with N500,000.

“I will also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Miss Ebere Okafor, the best graduating student of her department. My dear, your hard work, dedication and outstanding achievements deserve this recognition, and I applaud you for your exceptional performance.

“To my lovely wife, Mrs Uche Ubah who accompanied me and stood by me during my decoration by the Polytechnic’s Rector, Engr. Dr Mrs Francisca U. Nwafulugo, may God continue to guide and protect you for us.

“You have been my pillar of strength and encouragement, and words cannot quantify your love for me and my esteemed constituents.

“I am aware of the responsibility that comes with this recognition, and I pledge to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of our Senatorial District and to uphold the values that this award represents.

“Once again, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Federal Polytechnic, Oko for this honour. I am truly humbled and inspired to continue serving ndị Anambra South with dedication and integrity,” he added.
