1. Uproar As Senate Finally Approves $22.7 Billion Loan For Buhari

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday, approved President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow $22.7 billion foreign loan.

The upper chamber of the National Assembly approved the President’s request on Thursday 5th March amid uproar from some lawmakers particularly opposition PDP.

2. Court Nullifies Oshiomhole’s Suspension As APC Chairman

A Federal High Court In Kano has set aside a ruling of Abuja High Court suspending the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Kano High Court ordered the Police and Department of State Service (DSS) to provide security for Oshiomhole to resume in his office.

3. President Buhari Appoints Acting Appeal Court President

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Justice Dongban Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal.

Odogwublog reports that the appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, March 5 by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

4. Airing Hate Speech Attracts N5m Fine – NBC Warns Media Houses

Media houses have been warned by the National Broadcasting Commission to desist from airing hate speech which would henceforth attract a fine of #5 million.

The development was revealed by the Zonal co-ordinator of the commission in charge of Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and Katsina state, Abubakar Umar Kumo when he visited the Managing Directors of Jigawa broadcasting House in Dutse.

5. Ameachi Speaks On Peterside’s Removal As NIMASA Boss

Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has finally reacted to the reported recent removal of one of his top allies from office.

Odogwublog recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Bashir Jamoh as the new DG of the agency after removing Dakuku Peterside, an ally to Amaechi.

6. Oshiomhole Heads To Appeal Court Over His Suspension

Embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has promised to restore his integrity and seat at the party.

Odogwublog learnt that Oshiomhole stated this following an interlocutory injunction granted by a Federal Capital Territory High Court that he should step aside pending the determination of a suit filed by some members of the party.

7. COVID-19: Federal Government Might Review 2020 Budget, Finance Minister Says

The deadly COVID-19 outbreak might have a negative impact on the 2020 Nigerian national budget of N10.95 trillion.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, who revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting said that the federal government might be forced to review the approved 2020 budget.

8. APC Approves New National Officers (Full List)

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the appointment of some new national officers.

The decision was reached on January 14, 2020, during the meeting of the NWC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

9. Ex-INEC Chairman, Iwu Says The US Is Testing His Proposed Drug For Curing Coronavirus

The United States of America have begun tests on a ‘chemical compound’ isolated by Prof. Maurice Iwu, ex-Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, as a possible cure for coronavirus, Dr Ogbonanya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology has said.

Recall Odogwublog reported earlier that Iwu had allegedly found a cure for the novel Coronavirus COVID-19 which has claimed over 3,000 lives globally.

10. South Africa Records First Case Of Coronavirus

As the spread of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 increases, South Africa on Thursday confirmed its first case of the novel disease.

The South Africa Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said a 38-year-old male who travelled to Italy with his wife and has arrived back in South Africa on 1st of March has been tested positive.
