We have seven schools offering Mass Communication in the state excluding Paul University Awka which did not participate.

They are Federal Polytechnic Oko, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU Igbariam, Tansian University Umunya, Madonna University Okija, Legacy University, Okija, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and Odumegwu Ojukwu Polytechnic Ezinifite.

They are to convince the prospective students on why their Higher Institution is the best for Mass Communication studies among these schools.

Without television and mass communication or other social media information will be difficult to reach heterogeneous group of people in different localities.

Some of the functions of mass communication are; Mass communication serve as the eyes and ears for those seeking for information. The information receive through mass communication is not objective and without bias. Media house put forward the most sensational messages to titillate consumers. Media house simultaneously entertains and informs the public. Mass media transmit cultural norms, values, rules e.t.c. Mass media mobilize people during time of crisis. Mass media validate the status and norms of a particular person or group to enforce social norms.

     A prospective undergraduate might be confused on the best university to study mass communication in Anambra state, and ask which school is the best. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) is the best that helps students achieve their dreams. COOU gives a wining edge to it’s mass communication student by providing a variety of professional-level facilities and equipment to creat real hand-on experience on top of routine coursework. No student of mass communication is restricted from going to radio or television studio for practical. On October 2013 the National Broadcasting Communication (NBC) expressed satisfaction with the facilities in the radio studio of mass communication department. Students are thought to edit newspaper and practice the sign and symbols of mass communication. During the final year, Student produces magazine for the school.

     Mass communication in COOU is the perfect place to broaden your horizon and explore new experience and opportunities. For instance, delivering a presentation to a large group, practicing public speaking e.t.c. It may sound scary at first, but learning how to complete the tasks is essential it will polish you to be more confident and assertive. Studying mass communication in COOU improves understanding about the entertainment industry and general studies. It helps you speak fluently and helps you have an easy communication with people.

     In spite of all these benefits. Some parent will not allow their children to study mass communication in COOU. A portion will argue it’s a state university. Others might say because it’s expensive. In this case, If you think education is expensive try ignorance. It’s important to take a look at the compulsory internship after each level, capable lecturers, function able studio and computer labs, magazines production, conducive environment e.t.c. You can see that it becomes difficult to argue that the cost of learning in COOU worth the price.

     Studying mass communication in COOU will have a long-lasting positive implications on a student future. Windows of job opportunity will be flung open the moment an undergraduate who study mass communication in COOU graduates.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam campus, Anambra state otherwise called COOU is no doubt the best institute to study Mass Communication in Nigeria.

     There are still controversies on what the course entails and the opportunities awaiting those who studied it. People claim that those who study Mass Communication only end up being Newscasters and hungry people who walk around hunting for stories to call News. Of course, Graduates of COOU have strongly maintained that this ideology is false as they fit in many sphere of life as a result of the academic impact they got from our school.

       COOU is a school with high standard of learning and Studying Mass Communication in COOU gives one the opportunity to have various ideas due to the incessant practicals the students embark on immediately after class room exercise. This means that once you get admitted into Mass Communication you become a creative Beast because you don’t only read and write but get into the field and practicalize what you have been taught.

      When you study Mass communication in COOU , you are taught how to be a journalist ( newspaper), a Newscaster(television), an on-air personality (radio), an advert agent, a script writer, a film producer, an actor/actress, an editor, a Public Relation officer, a critic and so many other fields you can think of and makes you more equipped and opportuned.

       Research has proven that those in top positions in most companies graduated from COOU for example The feature news editor of “Thisday” newspaper is a graduate of My school and so many others.

            In COOU you will be taught how to be entrepreneurs, self employed and not dependent on any company to survive. The creative nature of each student is challengeably manifest.

        The students are given months of Internship training where they go to places to practicalize all they know as well as  acquire more knowledge. At the end 99 percent get retained in their interns sue to their outstanding performances, bringing employment to their door steps.COOU has a radio and television station with it’s on-air personalities as students.

     The lecturers that teach Mass Communication in COOU are influential and well skilled people in the field who make sure we learn the best and remain the number one. As a result to the upgrade in technology they have given us the opportunity of having our class works accessed and marked by persons from different part of the world which we are part of this open assessment as they get them connected in class through the Internet. All the activities of the students are being put online and corrections as well as  connections are gotten from this medium.

Firstly what is mass communication?
It’s defines as the systematic way of sharing meaning, knowledge,idea and information through a mass media to heterogeneous and anonymous audience.

Mass: this has to do with the large number of audience or public by which the message is shared with.

Communication is the strategical mist of sharing meaning between an encoder and decoder to create adequate understanding.

Mass communication department has been established in the campus since 2000, it has graduated numerous numbers of students which are well recognize globally.

Studying mass communication in COOU will exposed you to numerous use of technologies in different media houses like Radio station, TV station, and how to write effective newspapers and magazines, compare to the static technologies in other schools.

COOU igbariam campus, department of mass communication have a good numbers of professor in the field, which work as the lecturers in the department, through  effective competence and dexterity of their knowledge success in mass communication is best acquired by any student which study in the department, compare to any institution which has none of those competent personnel.

Furthermore the lecturers at COOU lecture with passion, every end of section, all mass communication student do go for industrial training (IT) to learn and acquire new skills in communication field, and to learn how new technologies are been used, which is meticulously monitor by the lecturers.
