Odimma_Oba distributes Rice to aged indigenes of Oba community

A COVID 19 Support group called Odimma_Oba has distributed about 300 bags of 25kg Rice to most vulnerable elderly persons from all the kindreds that constitute Oba community.
The Oba leadership also called for total adherence to governments’ stipulated Protection and preventive measures to curb the spread of the Corona virus pandemic which has been identified in Anambra State.
Speaking on behalf of the group’s Chairman who is the Oba Reagent, Prince Noel Ezenwa, the Treasurer, Dr. Emmanuel Emelummadu said that a support fund was raised to assist the vulnerable.
“At these trying times, nothing is better than the survival of our clan in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic. “Odimma_Oba meaning the good and progress of Oba, reaches out to stronger elements (wealthy) in terms of finances,food, medical supplies for the support of the weak(vulnerable) members of Oba community”, said Emmelumadu.

Emmelumadu a medical doctor lamented that Nigerians were not taking the Corona virus pandemic nor the government seriously claiming that  it is the White Man’s sickness.
“Corona Virus doesn’t respect color, affluence, education. Reports from the New York,USA states that 46 percent of the COVID 19 deaths were Blacks. We need to sanitize our hands.
“We need to keep social distance, wash our hands with running water and soap. Let sick persons with over 40 degrees Celsius of body temperature volunteer themselves for COVID 19 tests”, said Emmelumadu.
Moreover, Acting President General, Oba, Mr. Clifford Enendu praised Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his proactive measures in cubbing the spread of the pandemic and the 200bags stimulus package.
Enendu said that Oba Town Union has been enforcing the sit at home, no gathering, market closure directives urging everyone to be his brother’s keeper by encouraging hygiene.
The PG also thanked the Oba Reagent and his group for raising money to cushion the effect of hunger generated by the pandemic and compulsory restrictions especially for the vulnerable.
He commended the likes of Chief Okwuduba Anyaora who donated 150 bags of 25 kg Rice, Chief Sam Odinamadu who donated 1 million naira and Nze John Anusiobi who donated One hundred thousand naira among others.
The proceeds so far were used to procure rice which was distributed to  the aged persons from over One hundred kindreds within the nine villages of Oba community.
Meanwhile, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka of ROJENNY Games village,Oba encouraged people to step up their essential hygiene practices but said that COVID 19 would be defeated by Ndi Anambra.
“Malaria used to wipe out the White man but we Africans have become used to it. COVID 19 would be defeated by Ndi Anambra, it will not survive in this place”, said Ezeonwuka.
