Obiano Gives Certificates Of Commendations To Anambra Teaching On Air Teachers, Others

Anambra state government has appreciated teachers in the state that are participating in the Anambra Teaching on Air programme, a partnership project between the state Ministry of Basic Education and Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS.

Anambra Teaching on Air was introduced in April 2020, during the period of the Covid-19 lockdown.

Lessons were delivered using ABS radio and TV platforms, including Facebook and YouTube channels. The programme still continues.

The teachers, drawn from various schools in Anambra and some ABS staff that are partnering the state Ministry of Basic Education on the program, including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABS Chief Uche Nworah, Messrs Steve Nwinokpo, Pascal Osubor, Stanley Onuegbu, among others were presented with certificates of commendation signed by the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

Speaking at the event held at the ASUBEB complex in Awka, the state Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha while commending the teachers for their cooperation and commitment towards sustaining the on-air teaching asked them to leverage on any opportunity that comes their way to be successful and popular in the present day teaching profession.

She applauded Governor Willie Obiano for all his administration’s commitment towards providing Anambra children with quality education through introduction of latest teaching models in the education system of the state.

In a remark, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah described the on-air teaching as one of the best things that has happened in the state’s educational sector and called on private individuals and corporate bodies to partner the state’s Ministry of Basic Education on the program for the benefit of Anambra children.

Chief Nworah restated the commitment of the Anambra Broadcasting Service towards supporting programs that would inform, educate, and entertain Ndi Anambra and people of the world in general.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, a Mathematics Teacher at Community High School Awkuzu, Mr. Esomnofu Chidiebele thanked Governor, Obiano for the recognition and the state’s Ministry of Basic Education for introducing the On Air teaching which he said has exposed their talents to the world using platforms, the ABS Radio, TV, Facebook page, and YouTube channels.

Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Mr. Linus Nwankwo, Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Mrs. Ify Okaroh, incumbent Miss Nigeria, Miss Beauty Tukura, among others.
