Obi Condemns Disregard for Supreme Court Order on Rivers Fund
Labour Party’s Peter Obi has slammed the alleged disobedience of a Supreme Court ruling on fund allocations in Rivers State, calling it a violation of Nigeria’s constitutional order.
Obi criticized the release of statutory allocations to a sole administrator instead of a duly constituted House of Assembly, despite a court order barring such action. He warned that ignoring judicial decisions sets a dangerous precedent and urged institutions like the CBN and AGF to uphold the rule of law.
He further stressed that the issue extends beyond Rivers State, warning that continued disregard for the judiciary could undermine Nigeria’s democracy.
