..Lauds Umu Oba committed to Infrastructural Development

By Phil Okose, Onitsha

The Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa has declared that the Annual General Meeting of the Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) which usually holds every 31st December will not hold this year, 2022.

Ezenwa has also thanked immensely all the illustrious sons and daughters of Oba who have sacrificially committed their resources to the infrastructural development and progress of the Oba community and its people.

The declaration which was part of the End of year/Yuletide Press release titled ‘Good Will Message from the Regent’ and made available to newsmen yesterday revealed that the reason for not holding the 2022 AGM was first because of a certain court injunction and secondly in honour of a Late EzeOkpoko Cabinet member and OPU Board of Trustees member.

According to the statement signed by the Regent, It is unfortunate that we will not hold the usual 31st December general meeting of the OPU because of the injunction served by the court.

“Besides, the EzeOkpoko in council had earlier decided to stand down the meeting as a mark of respect and honour for late Chief C. C. Ejiofor, Ichie Ogali 1 of Oba who was an erstwhile Leader of the Cabinet, a former member of the OPU executive, a member of the BOT of OPU and command a father and legend image in Umuogali and Oba in general.

“I pray that our eternal love of Oba will help us to overcome whatever misunderstanding that led to the injunction.
