NUJ POST-ELECTION EVENT: Iyom Ugochimlueze of Umunri Celebrates Dr. Odogwu’s Victory in Grand Style, Calls Journalism the Powerhouse of a Nation

It was a remarkable moment at the residence of Iyom Ugochimelueze, also known as Nwanyibuife (Solution Kitchen), in Umunri, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State, as members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council, led by Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, visited her following her pre-invitation to celebrate Dr. Odogwu’s victory in the Anambra State NUJ election.

Dr. Odogwu, who was accompanied by other journalists, including the newly elected executives, was given a grand welcome upon arrival at the residence of Iyom Ugochimelueze. They were ushered into her edifice with local musical interludes.

During a warm discussion session, Iyom Ugochimelueze expressed her fears during the election and subsequent joy after Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu’s victory, stating that he needed to be re-elected to continue the good work he had started.

Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, while reacting, expressed profound joy, noting that in his years of practice as a journalist, he had never witnessed an elected officer being celebrated by a patron or matron as he had.

In a brief interview session, the NUJ Anambra State Council Matron, Iyom Ugochimelueze, noted that she had decided to honor and celebrate Dr. Odogwu’s victory in her capacity as Patron of the union. She referred to Dr. Odogwu as a man of integrity and experience who needed to be re-elected to finish what he had started. “I have decided to honor Emeka Odogwu, who happens to be the Chairman of the union and was re-elected. As the matron, I have decided to celebrate him today because he is a man of integrity, well-experienced, and there is a need to re-elect him to finish up the good job he has started.”

Speaking further, while advising journalists, Nwanyibuife na Umunri observed that journalism is the powerhouse of any nation, deserving utmost recognition.

“We don’t really recognize journalists as the powerhouse of the nation, but I advise they take it easy. Soon, they will be recognized more as they should. I feel they add more value to the world because, without the journalists, we wouldn’t know what is happening around the world, so we need to embrace, cherish, and honor them.”

In his words of appreciation, Dr. Odogwu referred to Iyom Ugochimelueze as special, noting that the union has several other patrons, but she decided to celebrate him and his executives. He assured her of the union’s support at any point in time. Dr. Odogwu prayed for good health, long life, and God’s protection upon the Matron of the Union, Iyom Ugochimelueze.
