Nteje Traditional Ruler Igwe Odegbo Celebrates Ilo-Mmuo Festival

It was a rich cultural display at Nteje community, Oyi council area as the traditional ruler, Igwe Rowland Odegbo celebrated the 2020 Ilo Mmuo festival.


The celebration, which took place at his palace, attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders and their followers, government officials and Ndi Nteje among other dignitaries.


The first set of people to pay homage to Igwe Odegbo were the parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Nteje, led by their Parish Priest, Reverend Father Peter Okolo, who prayed God to keep sustaining the monarch with wisdom to lead the community aright.


Cutting the yam for the ilo mmuo proper, Igwe Odegbo, who thanked God for the 2020 harvest, prayed for peace, prosperity, unity and love in the community, as according to him, what the community needs most at this time is an enduring peace.

He commended Governor Obiano for his socioeconomic development of the state as well as the various innovations he has brought to governance and prayed God to bless him, Ndi Nteje and the state as a whole.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Ojoto community, Igwe Gerald Mbamali, prayed God to give Igwe Odegbo sound health and wisdom.


The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah said that the station has been in forefront of promoting positive Igbo cultural heritage, hence the stations presence at the event, describing the monarch as one of the best in Anambra state.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Wealth creation, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, his Transport counterpart, Mr. Afam Mbanefo among others were present during the event, done in adherence to all COVID-19 protocols.
