Nsugbe Crisis: Council Of Elders Distance Self From Composition Of Ndi Ichie By Igwe Ntoka

Council of Elders in Nsugbe community have distanced itself from the purported investiture of some people into Ndi Ichie of the community done by the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Victor Ntoka.

The unanimous decision of the Council of Elders was made known during a protest they held on Saturday in the town.

The protest kicked off from Okikaizu Square of the community where Ndi Nsugbe usually meets to address certain issues that threaten the peace in the community.

Before the protest, the elders through their spokespersons chiefs Ifeanacho Akudo and Ifeanyichukeu Tagbo, explained that various atrocities have taken place in the land, regretting the turning of the customs and tradition of the town upside down.

According to them, the initiation rites must be performed by the oldest person in such a person’s family, and never by any person from another village, regretting that none of these were abided by in the recent charade.

The oldest man in the community Chief Arinze Obiagwu, who is the leader of the Council of Elders, at the age of one hundred and seven, pronounced that those who have desecrated the land deserve not to be part of the community anymore.

The youths later in a protest matched round the town, including the palace of the traditional ruler, carrying placards and a mock coffin.
