NSIB, NCAA warn airlines against overwriting black boxes

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have cautioned airlines against overwriting Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR) and Flight Data Recorders (FDR) during incidents, saying it hampers investigations and safety improvements.

NSIB DG Capt. Alex Badeh Jr. stressed strict adherence to flight recorder protocols, while NCAA confirmed enforcement action over a recent CVR breach. Both agencies also warned against substance use by aviation personnel, citing its risk to flight safety.
