NSF: Team Anambra win gold, 3 bronze medals in wushu kung fu

Team Anambra on Wednesday broadened their medals haul at the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Asaba with one gold and three bronze medals in the wushu kung fu female event.

Anambra won the gold medal through Covenant Sunday who defeated her Lagos state counterpart in their bout at the St. Patrick’s College venue.

Hope Sunday, Anne Fidelis and Miracle Sunday all won their third-place fights to win bronze medals.

This development takes Team Anambra’s gold medals’ haul to three after Ajuluchukwu Ogbagbue and Njideka Iyiazi had won in the scrabble singles and F-57 category of shot put.

Meanwhile, in para-javelin, Team Anambra won two silver medals through Iyiazi and Esther Ezerioha.

Team Anambra also won a silver medal and three bronze medals in the taekwondo event which has been concluded.

Speaking later, Patrick Onyedum, the Chairman of Anambra Sports Development Commission, commended the athletes for their efforts and charged them to go for the gold medal in their remaining games.(NAN)
