NSE Seeks FG Intervention Over Deplorable Condition Of Amansea, Enugu– Onitsha Expressway

The Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, Awka Branch, has brought the attention of the Federal Government to the bad state of the Amansea axis of the new Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

The branch Chairman of the association, Engineer Odinaka Okonkwo, made this known in Awka while assessing the Federal Government’s presence in the Southern region of Nigeria especially as it concerns maintenance and construction of major roads connecting all the southern States of the country.

The association, while recommending that a structure be established in every state to enhance the quality of road networks in different States, noted that modern maintenance management approach should be deployed to the Amansea axis of Enugu-Onitsha expressway to reduce the suffering of road users plying the major highway.

Engineer Okonkwo while calling for the engagement of indigenous engineers in the construction of federal roads, equally commended the federal government on the level and quality of work from Umunya to Amawbia axis of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, and suggested that the construction firm handling the work reduce the sizes of island diversions along the roads as they pose threats to commuters.

On his part, a fellow of the association, Engineer Cyril Anaeto and another member of the association, Engineer Paul Okoye, said that government should intensify efforts at developing and sustaining roads.
