The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed that four of its officers were killed in an ambush by bandits in the Farin-Kasa area of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State. In a statement on Friday, NSCDC spokesperson Babatunde Afolabi confirmed that the four officers were part of the seven personnel who had been reported missing following the November 18 attack. The ambush occurred while the officers were conducting surveillance on national grid installations in Shiroro LGA, Niger State. Afolabi further stated that out of the seven officers, four bodies had been recovered, two officers returned unharmed, and one officer remains missing. NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, expressed his condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers. Audi assured that the affected officers would receive Group Personal Accident/Group Life Insurance benefits to help alleviate the impact of the tragedy. During a visit to injured officers at the corps’ medical facility on Thursday, Audi praised their bravery and urged personnel across the country to remain steadfast. He emphasized the importance of vigilance, adherence to safety protocols, and prayer for divine protection as they continue their efforts in combating insecurity. Audi also appealed to the public to support the NSCDC and other security agencies in their mission to safeguard the nation’s lives and property.
