NSCDC boss mourns personnel killed in landmine incident

Mr Ahmed Audi, Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has sympathized with families of the four personnel who died on Monday when their vehicle run over a landmine in Niger.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NSCDC personnel were on routine patrol when the landmine went off killing four of them, leaving the driver of the vehicle critically injured.

The incident occurred in Galkogo, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, where gunmen attacked the community in the early hours of Monday.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr Olusola Odumosu, the CG said the personnel paid the supreme price in the service of the country.

The statement identified the deceased personnel as Assistant Superintendent of Corps, Mohammed Ibrahim, ASC II, Cheche Ahmed, Insp. of Corps, Yunusa Mahmam and Corps Assistant I, Bala Abdullah.It added that the driver, Insp. Bala Adamu, who sustained very serious injuries during the blast was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

The NSCDC helmsman reassured residents of Niger of the Corp’s resolve and commitment to the security of lives and property of all residents.NAN reports that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Monday-Bala Kuryas had earlier confirmed that six other persons died during the attack. (NAN)
