NPF chopper crashes in Bauchi
Contingent Commander, Ehide introduces Lagos State Police Command, Ward Ogbu to Amisom Mogadishu Regional Commander of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit, Mustapha Alamutu, on 6th January 2014 at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. Ward Ogbu had arrived with seventy officers to replace seventy officers who were leaving Mogadishu after completing their rotation. The AMISOM Police which comprises Ugandan, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Sierra Leoneian police,has the mandate to provide mentoring and advisory support to SPF on basic police duties, such as human rights observation, crime prevention strategies, community policing, search procedures and investigations. The Accident Investigation Bureau of Nigeria, AIB, has announced a police helicopter that took off from Abuja has crashed at the Bauchi Airport.
AIB, however, said no life was lost in the crash.
A statement by the body disclosed that the crash occurred on Wednesday 26th of January 2022.
“On 26th January 2022, Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria was notified by Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) about an accident involving a Bell 429 helicopter with Registration Marks 5N-MDA owned and operated by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
“The accident occurred on 26th January 2022 around 7:30 pm (Local Time) at Bauchi Airport.
“The NPF helicopter had departed Abuja at 16:54 UTC for Bauchi with Six persons onboard maintaining 5,500ft.
“There were some injuries but no fatality.”
AIB appealed to those around the scene of the crash for photos video evidence that would help in its investigation.
