Nonye, wife of Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra State, has urged Nigerian women to ensure that they eat balanced diet so they can maintain a healthy living. She said this in her address after “Walk for Life” physical exercise organised by Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria (UBWFAN) on Monday in Awka. She said that careless eating and drinking habit in addition to lack of physical exercise by individuals usually result in numerous health challenges. The governor’s wife urged the women to see exercise and eating right as important for healthy living, saying without this, the body become deteriorated. She said there was the need for regulated intake of salt in view of the current high mortality cases and sicknesses associated with consumption of sodium-based foods. She said that while salt was an important ingredient for food, consuming it in excess result in serious health problems. She commended the female farmers for organising themselves for the physical exercise and urged them to see the practice as not only safe but healthy. Earlier, the National President, UBWFAN, Mrs Nkiru Nwagbo said the “Walk for Life” physical exercise was to promote healthy living among members. Nwagbo said Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria was a non-profit women organisation based in Anambra involved in agricultural activities and promotion of healthy practices among women.
