No life lost in Anambra fire incident – Police

A police statement has revealed that no no life was lost in a fire incident that occurred along Odogwu Awka street,old INEC road Okpuno, Awka.

According Anambra Police PPRO, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, “there was a fire outbreak at about 7:30pm on 22nd March, 2021 in a bungalow building along odogwu Akwa street old INEC road Okponu Awka. Police Operatives quickly rushed to the scene, cordoned the area in order to prevent looting and further catastrophic.

“Meanwhile, Fire Service was contacted and they responded promptly. There was no loss of life as of the time of this report. Though some persons who had various degree of injuries, have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police; Anambra State Command CP MB Kuryas fsi has ordered for investigation to unravel the cause of the fire and to also ascertain level of damage.

“He enjoins citizens and the good people of Anambra on the need to heed on personal and domestic safety within and outside their homes.”
