Nnewi North Mayor, Hon Anazodo rolls out scorecard, commends Soludo

The Executive Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has rolled out his administration’s achievements in Nnewi North Local Government Area, since he resumed as the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North LGA, last October.

Elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA, Anazodo said there is never a dull moment. “Work is ongoing, nonstop in Nnewi”, the chairman emphasized during a media briefing with journalists in Nnewi.

A little over six months into office, Hon. Echezona said that his administration has its eyes set on building goodwill, which he observed was critical for the collective efforts required to engender good governance. Before his nomination as the candidate of the APGA in Nnewi North during last September’s local government election in Anambra State, Hon. Echezona Anazodo emerged through a competitive political process that saw him scale through the rigorous hurdles set by the party and the Nnewi community. The goodwill that enabled him to emerge successfully is what the Nnewi North Executive Chairman said he has leveraged and converted into partnership for good governance in the Nnewi North local government area. Accordingly, the Chairman noted that this is an ongoing process and remains a critical focus of his administration.

According to Hon. Echezona, human capital development is another key focus of his administration. To demonstrate this, the Nnewi North Mayor noted that his administration has given various levels of empowerment to not less than 200 Nnewi youths, including but not limited to those supported to strengthen their Micro, Medium, and Small businesses in Nnewi.

Education, which is yet another focus of the Nnewi North administration, according to the chairman, has been boosted with the procurement of JAMB forms for indigent students of Nnewi as part of efforts to encourage school leavers to further their education. The next focus of the Nnewi North local government under its current leadership is agriculture. In this regard, the chairman pointed out that at least 400 farmers in Nnewi have been assisted with improved seedlings and organic fertilizer for enhanced yield.

In terms of infrastructure, another critical focus of the administration, the local government is championing erosion control in Oduda Nnewichi. Similarly, the administration is concluding efforts towards providing a final solution to the Ukwaka bridge, known for its perennial collapse. The bridge has now been modernized, with streetlights. The administration is also paying attention to the poor condition of Nnewi markets and is making efforts to systematically fix the anomalies. So far, the present Nnewi North LGA leadership has provided 200 open shops free of charge to low-income and petty business owners, among many other interventions in different markets, including the Motor Parts Market in Nnewi, among others. In December 2024, the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, came up with the zero pothole campaign across Nnewi to significantly address challenges around some Nnewi roads.

With these, Hon. Echezona Anzodo is optimistic that the months ahead are going to be far more engaging as he plans to fully deploy various plans developed to strengthen local government administration in Nnewi North.

The Chairman also commended the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for making it easy through the massive road projects that are ongoing in Nnewi North local government area.
