NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY SENATE ELECTS REPRESENTATIVES TO VC SEARCH TEAM

The Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has elected two representatives to the search team for the selection of the Substantive Vice Chancellor.

They are Professor Amaka Metu of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Professor Elizabeth O. Ezenweke of the Department of Religion, Faculty of Arts.

The election, held at the 239th Special Senate Meeting at the Zephaniah Mmadubuko Auditorium, (New Faculty of Social Sciences Building) saw five contestants vying for the positions.
They are Professor Amaka Metu (108 votes), Professor Elizabeth Ezenweke (96 votes), Professor Nwachukwu Obiakor (91 votes), Professor Abamara N. C. (68 votes) and Professor Ofomata Chijioke (53 votes)

In her speech, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, officially declared Professor Metu and Professor Ezenweke winners, congratulated them, and urged the elected representatives to discharge their duties with diligence and impartiality, upholding the interests of the university.

The Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, Prof. J. K. C Emejulu, Provost College of Health Sciences, Prof. E. C. O. Obidimma, Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, and University Librarian, Prof. Stella N. I. Anasi, witnessed the election.

In a related development, the Congregation of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, also elected two representatives to the search team. They are Professor U. C. C. Nwogwugwu, who was unopposed, and Mr. Osundu Nnmadi, who scored 95 votes, defeating Mr. Chike Nwogbu with 35 votes.
