NMA Holds Annual Scientific Conference In Awka

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has assured Anambra State medical doctors and other health workers of modern working condition.

Governor Soludo gave the assurance during an Annual General Meeting/Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Anambra State Chapter, in Awka.

The conference, which has its theme as ‘Mass Emigration of Doctors & Other Health Workers: The Origin, Challenges and Solutions”, attracted medical practitioners and other professionals and dignitaries from across the nation.

Governor Soludo, represented by the state Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, said that the present administration is working tirelessly to reverse the ugly trend of mass emigration of healthcare providers.

He noted that such exit, if allowed to continue, would create a lacuna in the medical field, hence bringing about shortage in the area of healthcare delivery in the state.

The Governor appealed to doctors and other health workers to always remember the far-reaching consequences of emigration and stay back to build the state and country with their expertise since a healthy nation remains a wealthy nation.

Earlier in her speech, the state chairman of NMA, Dr. Jane Ezeonu, thanked the Governor for the visible efforts he has been making towards improving healthcare delivery in the state.

The event climaxed with presentation of awards to professionals, who distinguished selves in their fields of endeavour.
