Nise Kingdom Revives Age Grade Outing In Grand Style

Age grade outing in Nise kingdom, Awka south local government area of Anambra state was not only unique and grand, but a moment to reckon with.

A multitude of Nise sons deemed it necessary to identify with their age grades made of different age brackets.

The event which was graced by prominent men and authorities of the community, political dignitaries had in attendance the traditional ruler of Nise, Igwe Ugochimalueze RN Iloh, Ise Nise, the President General of Nise, Chief Anthony Nwabuona, Ozo Nzezuo and other members of the palace cabinet as well as town Union leadership.

The political aspirants who graced the event were Barr. Josiah Ifedi, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Anambra state house of assembly, Awka south constituency II and Senator Uche Ekwunife (IYOM), senator representing Anambra central senatorial district, ably represented by her campaign team.

The traditional ruler, Igwe Ugochimalueze RN Iloh, Ise Nise performed the breaking of kola nut while the President General of Nise, Chief Anthony Nwabuona, Ozo Nzezuo made remarks.

Official appearance of various age-grades before the king and his cabinets, masquerade dance, Presentation of certificate of recognition to age-grades and Launching of Nise digest formed part of the highlights.

In his remarks, Igwe ugochimalueze, Ise Nise congratulated the government of Nise community for their achievements since resumption of office. The monarch commended Chief Anthony Nwabuona, the President General of Nise for his efforts towards reviving the long forgotten age-grade event and for his doggedness towards ensuring that Nise community reaches and enviable height.

The chairman of the Christmas programs committee, Prince, Hon. Azubuike Iloh, Ononaenyi noted that the Age grade outing was last observed thirty seven (37) years ago. While stating the importance of the idea of age-grades in the community, aside enhancing the community’s unity, Ikpoko ogbo is another means towards the communities advancement.
