NIPOST supports FG’s digital economy plan

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) says it is committed to fulfilling the nation’s quest to grow the digital economy. The Postmaster General (PMG) of the Federation/CEO, NIPOST, Ms Tola Odeyemi, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. NAN reports that NIPOST is set to partner with the Federal Ministry of Interior to leverage it’s facilities for the delivery of international passports and other critical documents. Odeyemi said the partnership would deepen the existing inter-agency collaboration and strengthen NIPOST’s vast network for e-fulfilment services in Nigeria.

“ This partnership, if successful, will reflect part of the changes Nigerians have been clamouring for in putting NIPOST’s facilities to good use. “ My visit is aimed at fostering partnership and opening channels of synergy between the two organizations based on my three-point agenda. “It includes: Delivery of critical document i.e., International Passport, backend services for processing of passports and utilizing NIPOST selected locations, and the use of NIPOST for Address Verification System (AVS),” she said.

The PMG solicited the interior Ministry’s partnership in utilizing NIPOST vast facilities and network for the delivery of critical documents to citizens in the country and diaspora. She also said the role of NIPOST was strategic in enhancing national security, which is crucial to the development of the nation. In his response, the minister congratulated Odeyemi on her well-deserved appointment and expressed confidence in her expertise. He pledged to support NIPOST to succeed, adding that he is also committed to the fulfilment of the digital economy mandates of the nation.

Tunji-Ojo added that the office of the minister was always accessible for productive strategic partnerships. He said,“The ministry of interior will continue to explore ways and cultivate collaborations that will help in fulfilling its mandate to Nigerians.”
