Nigeria win first game by 8 wickets against Brazil in KwibukaT20

Nigeria won their first game at the ongoing KwibukaT20 in Kigali, Rwanda by eight wickets against Brazil.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this was the first time both sides were meeting and the first time Brazil were playing on the continent.

Nigeria won the toss at the Gahanga Cricket stadium and elected to field, with Brazil batting and scoring a total of 53 runs all out in 15.2 overs.

Evelynde Souza scored 12 runs off 22 balls, as the best batting figures for Brazil.

Meanwhile, Rukayat Abdulrazaq on her debut for Nigeria, made an impressive bowling statistics of four wickets, conceding nine runs in 3.2 overs.

The 17-year old was also supported by teammate Favour Eseigbe with three wickets, conceding 12 runs, one maiden over in four overs.

Salome Sunday led the batting order for Nigeria with 22 runs of 17 balls not out, supported by Agatha Obulor with 12 runs off 17 balls.

Nigeria went on to win by eight wickets with Abdulrazaq claiming the Player of the Match Award.

They will now face Germany in their next game on Friday at the IPRC oval in Kigali.

Meanwhile, the opening match of the tournament saw hosts Rwanda losing by six wickets to Uganda while defending champions Kenya beat Botswana by 35 runs.
