Ngige’s kinsman (Alor acclaimed monarch) docked for breach of peace, impersonation

A claimant to the traditional stool of Alor community, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, Chief Collins Chukwumesiri has been arraigned before a Nnobi Chief Magistrate Court on a seven count charges bordering on criminal breach of peace, threat to life and impersonation.

In the matter between the Complainant  ,  Inspector General of Police vs the Defendant, Chief Collins Chukwumesili, Suit No Mis/3c/ 21, the Police Prosecutor , DSP Patrick Chieke told the court that the defendant on the 4th of October , 2020 in Uruezeani village, Alor, did conspire with others now at large and did commit offence by threatening violence , malicious damage and conduct likely to cause breach of peace by threatening the life and family of His Royal Majesty MacAnthony Chinedu Elibe Okonkwo , damaged the keys to his residence, installed himself as the traditional ruler of Alor community and also disrupted the Offala ceremony organized by the Royal Majesty thereby committed an offence punishable under section496 of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol.11 laws of Anambra State of Nigeria,1991 as amended.

“Count 11:  That you Chief Collins Chukwumesili in the same date , place and time did commit offence by unlawfully allowing yourself to be installed by Uzoma Igbonwa, Okwuchukwu Nwoye, Dolie Chinedu and others  as the traditional ruler of Alor kingdom with the title of Ezedioramma 111 of Alor Kingdom while MacAnthony Chinedu Elibe Okonkwo  was alive and existing as the traditional ruler of the same kingdom which you did without lawful authority or permission from Anambra State government thereby committed offence punishable under section 18 of the Anambra State Chieftaincy Law 2020 as amended.

In count 111, Chukumesili was also accused of allowing himself to be addressed as the Ezedioramma 111 of Alor  even when the recognised traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, MacAnthony Okonwkwo was still alive and without permission or authorization from Anambra State Government also punishable under section 19 of the Anambra State Chieftaincy Law 2020 as amended.

In Count 1V, Chukwumesili was also accused of performing Offala ceremony in Alor reserved for traditional rulers without the permission or approval of Anambra State government   on the same time and day that His Royal Majesty, MacAnthony  Okonkwo marked same Offala  punishable under section 19 of the Anambra State Chieftaincy Law 2020 as amended.

After pressing all the charges against the defendant, he pleaded not guilty while the presiding Magistrate, His Worship Ken Nwoye granted him bail in the like sum of N500,000  with a surety who must be resident in Alor and whose identity must be confirmed by the court.

The magistrate also charged both parties to maintain peace and avoid any act capable of causing trouble in the community or among individuals.

The matter was adjourned to 15th and 22nd February, 2021 for hearing of the substantive matter.

This thus brought the drama which started since 4:30am on Thursday the 28th day of January 2021 to a climax as the Zone13 Police unit who carried out the manhunt for weeks and effected the arrest of the fake Igwe in a house at ONITSHA GRA after he ignored several invitations by the same police unit, they now made sure they charged the matter to court without further delay.
After his arrest yesterday he spent a night in the police custody and this morning proceeded to the NNOBI magistrate court.

Ebele who claimed to be an Evangelist before now wants to be an Igwe seven years after the process of selection of Igwe was conducted and concluded with a Certificate of Recognition duly issued by the state government to Igwe ELIBE OKONKWO, It may interest people to have a peep into the character of the person who now wants to be an Igwe. This is a man who renounced his membership of the Catholic church on the ground that they worship Mary and went to establish a Church where he is the general overseer. Every 1st January in the years past, as the leader of Pentecostal churches in Alor, he sponsored crusades in Obi Alor where he denounced all Igbo traditions including Ozo title taking and breaking of kola nut dubbing them fetish. He was at the vanguard of pushing for abolition of all our Igbo/Alor traditions.

Suddenly, after seven years of Igwe being selected, even when his village chaired the selection process, with three of his villagers, participating in the exercise through purchase of forms and attendance at selection interview, and even when approached by his villagers to express interest, where he described the igweship as meant for idol worshippers, this same Mr Ebele suddenly woke up to offer himself to be used to cause more disharmony in a once peaceful town today but with what transpired in the court Ndi-Alor are hoping that the law takes its full course so that sanity would be restored in the once peaceful town and teach those goading him on especially an ABUJA minister to respect constituted authority and rule of law while serving as a deterrent to others who may be nursing such a peace disrupting dream in other towns in Anambra State in particular and IGBOLAND in general.
