Ngige, Alor monarch commend their new PG

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, and the traditional ruler of Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo, weekend commended the people in the community for the peaceful way they conducted the election that produced, Chief Emmanuel Ojukwu, as the new President General, PG, of the community.

Commending them, Ngige stressed the need for the town union government adding that it compliments the State Government’s effort in moving the State forward.

“I was a one-time President General of the Alor community and I realize the importance of town union government. What happened here today is the wish of God because the community has been in crisis for about 13 years. Some who came here had knives in their waists in preparation for a showdown but God intervened with the emergence of Chief Emmanuel Ojukwu as the new PG.

“With his emergence peace which eluded the people for years has been restored and it is a thing of joy. Alor will now have rapid infrastructural development and I will not intervene in the affairs of the town union executives,” Ngige vowed.

Also reacting, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Okonkwo, stated that the community has been in crisis for about 13 years pointing out that with the emergence of Chief Ojukwu as the new PG of Alor, the crisis has come to an end.

“What we have today is consensus executive, an election which produced the new town union executive led by Chief Ojukwu. Ojukwu is a nice man who built so many houses for the indigent people of Alor. We all agreed he should be our PG.

“I am the patron of the town union according to the 1992 constitution and the amended 2011 constitution in Alor. So I am the father of all that contested the election and the entire people of Alor. We shall all work towards taking the community to the next level, Igwe stated.

In his post-election speech, the new PG pledged to restore peace which has eluded the people for years adding that he would work with all for rapid infrastructural development of the community.

” We know the task ahead is enormous but I will first be with my God and angels before commencing on any job. The community has given me task to do and I will have a meeting with myself and my the holy spirit,” he stated.

The new PG commended Ngige, the monarch, the electoral committee and the people in the area for the smooth conduct of the election that produced him, adding that he would operate an open-door policy.
