New NRC Boss Pledges Railway Transformation, Sets Bold Agenda

The newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has vowed to revamp the railway system for national economic growth. Speaking at the handover ceremony in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Opeifa outlined his priorities, emphasizing modernization, efficiency, security, and service expansion. He pledged to align NRC’s development with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the 25-year Strategic Rail Modernization Plan. His key focus areas include: Security: Strengthening collaboration with security agencies to protect railway infrastructure. Modernization & Expansion: Upgrading rail networks and adopting new technologies. Connectivity: Enhancing links between cities, ports, and economic hubs. Service Excellence: Improving customer experience and operational efficiency. Private Sector Collaboration: Encouraging investment to boost revenue and economic impact. Opeifa expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity and assured Nigerians of his commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective leadership. The event featured dignitaries, including former Lagos Deputy Governor Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who urged him to see his role as a call to national service.
