NELFUND Disburses N22bn in Loans to 200,000 Nigerian Students
At least 200,000 Nigerian students have benefited from loans totaling over N22 billion, according to the Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Sawyerr announced that the 2023/2024 application process will close on February 21, 2025, while applications for the 2024/2025 academic year will commence on February 22.
In December 2024, the Federal Government approved an additional N110 billion for students in public tertiary institutions across the country.
Earlier, in November 2024, Sawyerr informed the House of Representatives Committee on Student Loans and Higher Education Financing that NELFUND had already disbursed N12 billion in student loans.
