NDLEA Warns Nigerians Against Fake Vehicle Auction Offers
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned Nigerians to beware of fraudsters impersonating senior officials of the agency to promote fake vehicle auction offers aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement issued by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA disclosed that the scammers have been using the name of the agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, to circulate fake letters and messages offering forfeited vehicles at discounted prices. The agency clarified that no official has the authority to privately allocate or sell forfeited vehicles or any other seized assets.
The NDLEA explained that all forfeited vehicles and assets are disposed of only through public auctions conducted by government approved auctioneers, with announcements made through national newspapers and the agency’s official communication channels in line with legal procedures.
The agency urged Nigerians to ignore and report any letters, text messages, or social media posts claiming to offer vehicles or other seized assets for sale in the name of any NDLEA official. It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and integrity and advised members of the public to report such fraudulent activities to the nearest NDLEA command or through its official communication channels.
