The good people of Ozuu village, Ndiukwuenu in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state, yesterday flooded Anambra state Government House, Awka in peaceful protest over land grabbing .

They carried placards of various inscriptions and some read: Mr Governor come to our aid, Our economic trees and crops are being destroyed, Our men and women no longer farm in their lands among others.

According to the President General of the community and leader of the protesters, Mr Ezechukwu Okoli, the community is protesting the grave injustice done to the community by the agents of the government who he alleged have forcefully taken over their land and handed same over to some known criminals from within and outside Ozuu village.

“This singular action has caused and is still causing crises in our community.
Prior to the dereservation and release of 20% compensatory plots, Ozuu Ndiukwuenu has been a peaceful
community but now the peace is eroded.

He however appreciated the state Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Solido for his
unrelenting effort in ensuring that dividends of democracy are delivered to the good people of
the community.

“In the history of the community this is the first time a well tarred road is constructed in our community, courtesy of Mr. Governor.

“Sir, may we also inform you that land grabbers are having a field day in Mamu forest reserve
which has become a security threat to the people of the community as well as the state.

The crises that ensued as a result of the de-reservation and the release of 20% compensatory
plots has been a protracted one with no end in sight.

“We therefore call on you, Mr. Governor to wade into this matter in order to forestall devastating
effect of the lingering crises.

“We are solidly behind you in your quest to develop every nooks and crannies of the state
including our community but we plead that the rule of law be applied in every governments
action of which you hold dear.

“Mr. Governor, we want to bring to your notice that the palm trees and other economic trees
that your government spent so much to import from other countries are being destroyed by
these unscrupulous elements.

“The farm lands of farmers which they spent so much to cultivate
are being destroyed even as food products are in scarce supply.

“We humbly ask that you use your good office to effect the following: place an order stopping the people involved from further destruction, sales,
excavation and parcellation of any portion of Mamu River Forest Reserve

“Form a panel of inquiry to bechaired by a competent personality to look into what
happened in Mamu Forest Reserve and give audience to the stakeholders of Ozuu community and other interested
groups.

“We also want you to arrest and prosecute those found culpable
Sir , we pledge loyalty and unalloyed support to your administration.

The Youth leader from the community, Onyeobara Valentine Obinze said Sixty percent of the said land belongs to the poor farmers who use the land agricultural purposes.

Responding, Anambra state Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Solido who spoke through his Political Adviser, Dr Alex Obiogbolu said the wellbeing Anambrarians is causing him sleepless nigh.

Our Governor is not the type that supports evil , he will look into this case because he did not start today .

Government will address the issues raised and the law is clear that any community harbouring criminals for rubbery ,kidnapping will forfeit such property to the government.
