NDIGBO AS THE ABORIGINES OF NIGERIA, CANNOT BE SUBJECTED TO XENOPHOBIC ATTACK – SENATOR UMEH

A two time Senator, representing the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, Abuja,Senator Victor Umeh,says Igbos as the aborigines of Nigeria cannot allow the practice of xenophobic attack from any part of Nigeria on them.

The distinguished Senator, who was speaking during Press interview at the 2023 Umunri Cultural Fiesta ( Oganiru Umunri),held at Enugu-Agidi Community in Njikoka Local Government Area, said that the Igbos as the aborigines of Nigeria have the rights to reside in any party of Nigeria and do their business according to the guarantees given by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Federal Lawmaker, who warned that nobody should be allow any interest or personal sentiment to launch an attack on Igbo people who live in every corner of Nigeria doing their legitimate business and as well contribute their quota to promoting of the well being of all those places they live peacefully.

While describing Ndigbo as the indigenous people of Nigeria, the Senator, maintained that the Igbos did not migrate to Nigeria nor come from a new place outside Nigeria to become Nigerians,rather,they are the aborigines of Nigeria who have the rights to reside in any part of the Country to do their business.

He stated that Lagos State was one of those places in Nigeria the Igbos live,pointing out that without Igbos in Lagos Stater that their economy will collapse completely and become nothing because according to him the Igbos built houses in Lagos State and as well make it strong and live their happily.

He added that the Logicians should allow Ndigbo to do their businesses because they pay their taxes to Lagos State Government ,stressing that anybody that is attacking the Igbos is drawing anarchy to themselves and Nigeria at large.

He affirmed that the Igbos live everywhere in Nigeria including Kano State, adding that there is no village in Nigeria the Igbos did not live and do their business and contribute to the development of those places they live by building houses, and becoming part of their host Community.

The highly respected Senator and a former National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),Senator Umeh, said that if it is for any reason that the xenophobic attack on Ndigbo in Lagos Stater and other parts of Nigeria is political, noting that such ugly development on Igbos in their father’s land if sustained will no doubt mark the disintegration of the Country, pleading that nobody should provoke such harrowing trend in Nigeria .

The distinguished Senator, who further described the Igbo as peace lovers, promoters of national integration and inter -tribal relationship in Nigeria ,maintained that the Igbo were also believe in hard working ,opining that there is no account they should be attacked again in Nigeria where they belong.

He commended the organizers of the Oganiru movement in Umueri clan and expressed the hope that the event will bring the people together, promote communal spirit and relationship in the area for absolute peace to reign.

From him, the President -General,Enugu-Agidi Community, Chief Ebuka Onuorah, said that the event was aimed at bring their people who were drawn from Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Local Government Areas together, especially those from Enugu-Ukwu,Enugu-Agidi, Nwafia and Agukwu -Nri Communities for better understanding of themselves,their culture and the traditions their fore fathers
