National President Of NULGE, Kankara Visits, Moves To Bring Peace In Anambra Chapter
Anambra State Government has promised to wade into the lingering crisis in the state chapter of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees, NULGE, with a view to finding a lasting solution and ensuring that peace returns to the union.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, made the promise after having a closed-door meeting with the National President of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu-Haruna Kankara, with some national, zonal and Anambra State executives of the union who called on him to bring an end to the crisis in the union.
Commissioner Nwabunwanne noted that since Anambra is the only chapter in the whole country with issues, it will be easy for the government to settle the problem, adding that the legal documents as claimed by the different factions have been submitted to the state’s legal department for interpretation and resolution.
Addressing the group who later visited her in her office at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat, Awka, the Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, who frowned at the state executive of the union for not carrying her along even before the crisis, charged them to stop every protest forthwith to enable her meet with the two parties to so as to bring peace back to the union.
The National President of NULGE, Comrade Kankara, stated categorically that the Comrade Eucharia Uyawune-led executive of the union in Anambra is the authentic executive duly elected by the national body, noting that they cannot allow another faction to disorganize the union under any guise.
The Anambra State Acting President of the union, Comrade Uyawune, on her part, wondered why the other faction is causing issues where there is none, and assured that her executive will toe the path of peace whenever it is initiated.
The National Treasurer of the union, Comrade Ziko Chude, among Others were part of the visit.
