The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Works Minister, Senator David Umahi, following its assessment of federal road projects.
The NANS Senate President, Distinguished Senator Ibeabuchi Moses Onyia, announced this on October 12, in Onitsha, Anambra State, during an inspection tour of ongoing federal road projects.
The delegation comprised NANS national executives, zonal representatives, state executives, campus leaders and other students who assessed construction progress and infrastructure quality across selected roads.
Projects inspected included the Enugu–Onitsha dual carriageway, Second Niger Bridge access road, Asaba–Onitsha Road Phase 2B and Onitsha–Owerri Expressway, spanning Anambra and neighbouring states.
Onyia commended the construction standards, professionalism of engineers and contractors, quality materials, road alignment and safety features observed at the various project sites during the assessment tour.
He noted that the projects were improving transportation for students, traders and other commuters, while potentially reducing travel time, vehicle operating costs and road-related safety risks.
The NANS leader praised the Federal Ministry of Works and credited Umahi’s commitment, hands-on supervision and leadership for the progress observed, urging sustained efforts towards completing all projects.
He also commended President Tinubu for supporting infrastructure development, describing the road projects as catalysts for economic opportunities, improved inter-state commerce, regional growth and safer journeys for road users.
Onyia thanked participating student leaders and reaffirmed NANS’ commitment to monitoring public projects, offering constructive feedback and collaborating with government to ensure infrastructure investments deliver meaningful benefits to Nigerians.
