MPFC ACADEMY UNVEILS KAYODE AS CHIEF COACH

Last Tuesday, the sporting arenas in Owerri, Imo State capital and its environ was agog as management of Malick Pro Football Club Academy unveiled Mr.Julius Kayode a world class sweat merchant as the Chief Coach for their overall vision of harnessing football talents in the state.

Performing the colourful unveiling ceremonies at City Cruz Hotels, Owerri exquisite conference room before Sports Journalists, Chief Atufule Kachi ( Aka Malick), the club’s cum academy proprietor and financier described Kayode as a big fish that is coming to Imo State to develop grassroots football using the Club as a litmus test.

Kachi while expressing gratitude to Kayode who’s immediate past Chief Coach of Sunshine United FC, Akure and Ex- Super Eagles for accepting the endorsement offer of intensively piloting the affairs of the academy in the next six months.

According to him ” Right from birth I have special passion for football as well as the drive for human empowerment. Truely, this was my motive for years ago for setting up Malick Mercy Foundation, a non governmental organization(NGO), which have in many ways empowered the youths and other members of the society. The NGO has also assisted the State Government in her efforts of keeping the youths busy and eradicate restiveness and anti social vices.

I see the game of football as another strategic way of keeping the youths engaged, these are the reasons of me investing in football as a business. In life, if you want the best you have to do extra ordinary thing. This is the rationale why I brought in a seasoned coach like Mr. Julius Kayode, an immediate past Chief Coach of Sunshine United FC, to manage the Academy and the football business. I don’t want to settle with the little fish but rather the big fish” he informed.

Responding, Coach Kayode said that he was motivated into accepting the offer because of the proprietor’s passion for football and its development.

According to him “having been in the premiership for 7 good years and played the game up to national and international levels, I want to give back my experiences to young, gifted and talented footballers, to assist them achieve their mission in life. As a coach it’s very pertinent to be refreshing your brain regularly or else you go into extinction ” he revealed.

The Coach pointed out that the institution is running both youths team and football academy in line with FIFA targets approval.

The sweat tactician assured that by 12th of July by 8am at Old Township Stadium, Tetlow Road Owerri, he will embarked on about one week open screening recruitment of players and those selected will be under tutelage of being groomed as one of the best in the world.
