Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka: Standing Tall Amidst False Allegations

Despite recent attempts to tarnish its reputation, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, owned by the Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion, remains a beacon of excellence in nursing education. The institution has responded firmly to a wave of false allegations circulated by a social media influencer, allegedly acting on behalf of individuals facing disciplinary action from the school’s committee.
According to the college management, the claims were orchestrated by unscrupulous individuals seeking revenge for lawful disciplinary measures taken against them. These defamatory narratives, spread via gullible social media channels, are designed to sabotage the institution’s revered status.
In a joint public release dated 25th July 2025, the Provost, Mrs. Ezulike Chisom, and the SUG President, Mr. Afokansi Elochukwu, urged the public and stakeholders to disregard all allegations of extortion, emphasizing that such claims are entirely inconsistent with the values and standards upheld by the college.
Mrs. Ezulike, in her statement titled “Allegation of Financial Extortion,” reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to integrity and transparency:
“First and foremost, I wish to categorically state that Millennium College of Nursing Sciences stands firmly against any form of extortion, corruption, or unethical financial practices. Our institution was founded on principles of integrity, transparency, and academic excellence, and we remain committed to these values in all our operations.”
She further emphasized the college’s motto: “Training the Mind for Holistic Care” as a reflection of its dedication to nurturing not only intellectual capacity but also the moral, spiritual, and emotional development of its students. The institution, she noted, is committed to producing well-rounded professionals capable of delivering compassionate and ethical care.

Mrs. Ezulike also highlighted the college’s infrastructural achievements, which have significantly enhanced academic activities and student welfare. She clarified that no formal complaints had been submitted through any recognized channel regarding the allegations, reinforcing the notion that the claims are malicious fabrications by expelled students.
“It is also worthy of mention that some students who were expelled due to serious disciplinary issues have, out of bitterness and personal grievance, resorted to spreading false and negative narratives about the college. While we understand that disciplinary actions may sometimes be met with resentment, it is regrettable that a few individuals have chosen to attack the institution instead of accepting responsibility for their actions.”
She called on the public and stakeholders to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified information or defamatory publications, assuring that the college remains open to scrutiny and continues to operate within the framework of Nigerian educational regulations and standards.
Echoing the provost’s sentiments, SUG President Mr. Afokansi Elochukwu condemned the misinformation campaign and urged the public to remain vigilant:
“We are aware of the activities of one hired social media influencer (TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook) attempting to undermine our reputation. We urge the general public to disregard these malicious attempts to mislead and misinform. This activity does not reflect the values and principles that Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, Awka, stands for.”

He further criticized the misinterpretation of disciplinary measures taken by the school, stating that such actions are necessary to uphold institutional standards:
“The misrepresentation of measures employed by the school’s Disciplinary Committee by ungrateful and unlawful elements is totally unacceptable. No school runs without rules and regulations.”

Mr. Afokansi concluded by reaffirming the college’s commitment to delivering top-quality education and training under the leadership of Provost Mrs. Chisom Ezulike, with the goal of producing competent and compassionate nurses.
