Messi, Denzel Washington Among Recipients of Top US Award from President Biden
US President Joe Biden will present the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to 19 distinguished individuals on Saturday. Honorees include global icons such as soccer star Lionel Messi, actor Denzel Washington, singer and activist Bono, basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and actor Michael J. Fox. Others being recognized are fashion editor Anna Wintour, designer Ralph Lauren, chef José Andrés, and environmentalist Jane Goodall. The White House described the recipients as “leaders and extraordinary contributors to their country and the world.” Billionaire philanthropist George Soros and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are also among this year’s awardees.
