Mason jailed 12 months for stealing car stereo
A Jos Upper Area Court on Monday sentenced a mason, Isaiah Nuhu, to 12 months imprisonment for breaking into a car and stealing a car stereo.
The presiding judges, Ghazali Adam and Hyacenth Dolnanan, handed down the sentence after the convict pleaded guilty to burglary, theft and begged for leniency.
The judges gave the convict an option of N 30,000 fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo Jos Police station, on May. 12, by the complainant, Mancha Dido.
Dabit said the stereo was worth N 40,000.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 313 and 237 of the Plateau Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.(NAN)
