Man Arraigned For Impersonation, Illegal Revenue Collection In Anambra

The Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue has charged one Mr. Emeka Esotu to Court for impersonation and illegal revenue collection in the State.

Mr. Eseto who is the Chairman, Ozzalla Obosi Landlord Association was charged for a five count charge in Awka Magisterial District, presided over by Nnonyelum Anyaegbunam including illegal collection of Anambra State Waste Management Authority levy without authorization, illegally procuring of summons and prosecuting persons in the law Court for defaulting the payment of, ASWAMA, levy without authority as well as refusal to pay the sum of thirty two million naira as tax to the state.

The accused Mr. Emeka Esotu pleaded not guilty to all the charges read against him.

The court granted the defendant bail with the sum of one million naira, with a surety who will be a civil servant from the cadre of grade level thirteen with verifiable, ANSIDD, number as well as an address that will be within the jurisdiction of the court.

Speaking later, Counsel to the defendant Mr. Theophilus Ezike told newsmen that they would work earnestly to perfect the bail condition and approach the state government to know whether the matter would be settled out of court.

The case was adjourned to 3rd September 2020 for further hearing
