Maduka joins Anambra guber race

A man who wields three professorships in the United States of America, Godwin Maduka, has enrolled on the Anambra State November 6 governorship race.

Maduka, a specialist in pain management and owner of the Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Cente in the US was unveiled in Awka, the Anambra State capital as the candidate of the Accord party in the race.
He said apart from being a professor in medicine, pharmacy and Chemistry, he had PhD degrees in the three fields.

Maduka who had earlier contested the the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party held on 26th June and scored five votes out of 218, accused the PDP of manipulating the process.

He said he joined Accord to realise his purpose of repositioning the state to an enviable height, describing himself as the best in the race.

He said, “PDP never really had a primary election, it was selection that took place in the primaries and I was not selected.

“But the people of Anambra are still yearning for my candidacy, which is why I began searching for a party that upholds discipline and integrity. I found Accord. It is a party I can work with.

“Accord is the only vibrant political party in the state, considering the fact that the party has more grassroots support in Anambra.

“I have lived in the U.S for over 40 years and I want to replicate some of the developmental projects I have done there in Anambra. I will start by tackling social welfare such as hunger.

“Secondly, I will prioritise security, road construction, employment, healthcare, education and sports development.

“More importantly, I have a vision to make Anambra the hub for medical tourism, with my western experience as a medical practitioner.

“If I become governor, our administration will be gender inclusive, our women will be given the chance to fully participate in governance,” he said.

“I still have friends in PDP and APGA and I’m very convinced that they will vote for me, come November 6.

The State Accord Chairaman, Bartholomew Igwedibia, said the party substituted Maduka with
Alex Nwankwo, who initially emerged as the governorship candidate of the party.
