Lawmaker offers free medical services to 40,000 constituents in Adamawa

No fewer than 40,000 people in Adamawa have benefitted from free medical outreach sponsored by Sen. Binos Yaroe (PDP – Adamawa South).

Dr Telemoh Dah, the Lead Consultant of the exercise, stated this during the inauguration of a four-day 7th Medical Outreach, on Monday in Jada, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Dah, who is also the Director, Soteria Afrique, said the free medical services organised by the lawmaker had saved many lives due to the interventions.

He said the beneficiaries received free services during the six rounds medical treatment including surgeries, laboratory tests, eye treatment and referrals.

“I had a case where someone who was blind for 21 years with cataract had his vision restored.

“Some people who had surgeries that were three steps, one step had been done and the other two not done or two steps done while the last step had not been done and they lived with it for fifteen years.

“Others were brought in on the verge of dying convulsing, they are trying to breath their last. We take care and they survived,” he said.

Dah noted that most of the diseases treated were common ailments related to the eye, while the major ailments included hernia; hypertension, diabetes and asthma among other health challenges.

He said that different health professionals including optometrists, ophthalmologists, gynaecologists, surgeons, physicians and laboratory technicians participated in the exercises.

In his remarks, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, commended the gesture, adding that his administration accorded premium to the provision of quality healthcare services in the state.

Fintiri, represented by Prof. Maxwell Gidado, Chief of Staff, Government House, said that the relevance of the senator’s medical intervention would be appreciated as the government alone could not take care of all the medical needs of the people.

He called on spirited individuals to contribute towards bolstering the health sector for the benefit of the people.

On his part, Yaroe said the medical outreach was the seventh in the series of interventions since his election into the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Yaroe said the exercise was designed to address medical challenges being experienced by the people especially at the grassroots.

He thanked Gov. Fintiri for his support which facilitated successful condcut of the exercises, adding that the medical outreach was conducted in Demsa, Ganye, Guyuk, Mayo Belwa, Numan and Toungo LGAs.

According to him, the next round medical outreach will be conducted in Lamurde and Shelleng, the two remaining LGAs of the district. (NAN)(
