It’s a well known fact that Chelsea FC are in need of a defensive midfielder. The Blues has only one proven defensive midfield in Ngolo Kante and they are looking to bring in new midfielder ahead of next season.

Ngolo Kante has been having injury and fitness issues since last season and that has pushed the Blues into making a move this summer to sign a defensive midfielder.

The Blues have been looking at lots of targets at the moment, with Aston Villa midfielder Declan Rice one of them.

However, current report suggest that the Blues have now turned their attention to former Arsenal star to solve their midfield defensive issues.

The kind of goals that Chelsea concede suggest that they need a more protective and defensive minded player to shield their defence against their oppositions.

Jorginho and Kovacic are both lovely footballers who are good at keeping the ball rolling but they are always easy to play through.

However, according to a report released, Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has turned to former Arsenal star Ismael Bennacer to be the man to bring stability back to the Blues midfield.

Bennacer who currently plays for AC Milan, was given little chance to prove himself while at the North London Club, but has been a phenomenal presence for AC Milan this season.

The report suggest that Milan value him for £46m and are ready to let him leave this summer once their demands are met. Chelsea however, are not the only club looking to sign the midfielder, with Manchester City and Paris-Saint-Germain also interested in signing the player.

Bennacer is best known for his work rate when his opponents are with the ball. He is a true anchor, who protects the defense and connects play very well between the defense and attack.

Arsenal had a chance of resigning their former player last summer but failed to match the €16m price tag on the player.
