Kidnapped for Two Weeks: Where Is the Government?

FB_IMG_1780169401964

Teachers and students have been in kidnappers’ den for nearly two weeks in Oyo State, and the government doesn’t seem to know what to do. Now private citizens are trying to do something. While I appreciate their courage, it is a shame that the government is not doing enough.

VDM has said he will publicly appeal for funds to be raised in the next 4 days so the kidnappers can be paid. That is, if the government has not rescued the teachers and students by then. The whole country will raise money and give it to people inside the bush. Pause for a moment and think about this while politicians use security and sirens to zoom around from one burial to another party. Will that be the end?

Harrison has said he will be able to mobilise and move to the state if he gets an official invitation. Does he have an army of his own? Definitely not, and he will rely on security agents as well. Why are individuals trying to put their lives at risk in this way while we have a government?

I do not think the government or security agencies are unaware of where these people are. They use phones and the internet. If someone writes anything bad about any VIP at 12:00 PM, they will be picked up at 3:00 PM the same day. The 3 hour delay is just because of traffic and bad roads. So they know.

Are they exercising restraint for some reason to avoid more loss of lives or anything else?

Now citizens cry to individuals for protection in a country where officers from different forces mount road blocks.

It is not life that we are living in Nigeria.
