Insecurities: Stop Heating Up The Environment, Ekeigwe Advised Peddlers Of False News

Despite the security challenges in the country and Imo State inclusive, Sir Dom Ekeigwe has advised peddlers of false news especially most users of social media to stop heating up the environment unnecessarily by spreading false news, information and rumours noting that in reality, the security situation in Eastern Heartland State is after all not as bad as been presented outside.
Ekeigwe who hails from Umueleke in Umualumaku autonomous community in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the State said this in a press statement he endorsed and issued to news men in Owerri titled- The True State of Insecurities in Imo State and Deception of Social Media Operators.
Accordingly to Ekeigwe who’s a certified United Nations (UN) Ambassador of Peace as well as the Patron of Igbo National Stakeholders Assembly (INSA), “please, please, people should stop all these lies, there was no gun shooting at any part of Imo State now, why is people using the social media to spread fake news. It baffles me that these days, about 70 percent of what goes on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other social media are lies and fake news, it is a big shame for all these perpetrators to put fears on people for something they even know that is not true, if you think Imo State is that bad in terms of insecurities, what are you doing to better off the state? Only talking and peddling unfounded rumours and falsehood morally makes you an enemy to the state. It perturbs me so much, why do people derived pleasure in castigating the state by escalating unimaginable security situation just to ignorantly deceived an innocent but gullible people. I am not saying there is no insecurity problem but say the extent that is true and stop dishing out tissues of lies, just to create unnecessary tension and panic. Honestly, you better report the truth or you shut up” Ekeigwe advised.
The founder and financier of Apostles of Change,a non governmental but philanthropic organization equally decried the attitude of the nation’s Leaders and security agencies whom he accused of dealing with these social media violators with kids gloves prompting others not to see publicising falsehood as a criminal offence.
Ekeigwe further expressed disappointment with members of Imo State House of Assembly for allegedly been unperturbed on security challenges ravaging the State assuring them that history and prosperity will certainly vindicate them.
He accused them of being unduely pocketed by the executive and also enjoined them to be people oriented in their deliberations.
