INEC Increases Preparations For Anambra Guber Election

In a bid to ensure credible Governorship Election in Anambra State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in collaboration with the European Centre for Electoral Support has organized an Election Monitoring and Support Centre Amber Zone Implementer’s Workshop at Nibo in Awka South Local Government Area.

The workshop attracted participants from the National, State and Local Government levels of the commission.

In his remark, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, said that the workshop was to ensure that everything that needed for the election are put in place.

He noted that theIndependent National Electoral Commission has developed a system to monitor all activities, and ensure that all programmes that have been identified and planned are implemented.

Dr Orji also revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission will mobilize over twenty-five thousand ad-hoc staff for the five thousand, seven hundred and twenty polling units in Anambra State.

For the Project Co-ordinator, European Centre for Electoral Support, Mr Hamza Fassi-Fihri, they will give their support to INEC to ensure that the Anambra State Governorship Election is conducted in a credible manner.

He disclosed that European Centre for Electoral Support is a European support for democratic governance in Nigeria promising to collaborate with INEC to build capacity in the delivery of elections.

In his address the special Adviser to INEC Chairman on Election Monitoring and Support Centre, Professor Mohammed Kuna, explained that the workshop is to assess the readiness of the commission, and expressed confidence that the November Sixth election will be better than all the previous elections conducted in Anambra State.

Contributing the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, noted that the workshop is intended for all the electoral officers and all those involved in the execution of the Election Monitoring and Support Centre platforms.
