Imo Speaker announces new standing committee chairmen

The Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly, Mr Kennedy Ibeh, on Tuesday, announced chairmen of five Standing Committees in the House during the plenary session.

Ibeh named Mr Emeka Nduka (APC Ehime Mbano) the Chairman of Budget and Appropriation while Mrs Ngozi Obiefule (APC Isu) was announced as Chairman of House Committee on Commerce and Industry.

Dr Arthur Egwim (APC Ideato North) became the Chairman of Committee on Local Government, Rural Development, Chieftaincy Affairs and Autonomous Communities.

The Member representing Oguta state constituency, Mr Frank Ugboma (PDP) was announced as Chairman of the House Committee on Public Utilities and Public Safety.

Mr Heclus Okoro (APC- Ohaji Egbema) was named Chairman of the Committee on Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Oil and Gas.

The speaker said that other standing committee chairmen would be announced at a later date.

Ibeh also announced Mr Chigozie Nwaneri (APC Oru East) as the new Chief Whip following the removal of the former whip, Mr Obinna Okwarra.(NAN)
