Inview of the factionalization of Imo State leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo (Marcon), the state Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party has declared that the 2019 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, AA, Uche Nwosu and factional Chairman of the party, Dan Nwafor, are not members of his party in the State.
Nlemigbo who was addressing news men in his office in Owerri along Okigwe road over the weekend revealed that Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted an injunction restraining Nwafor and his cohorts from parading themselves as leaders of APC in Imo State.
According to him, the court re validated him(Nlemigbo) as State Chairman of the party pointing out that he has always been preferred by the national leadership of the political party as the authentic APC Chairman in the State prompting the approval for him to host the recently concluded South East APC leadership meeting held in Owerri and in which Governor Hope Uzodimma officiated.
He affirmed that Governor Uzodimma remains the only leader of APC in Imo State, enjoining the party faithfuls and Imo people to always disregard the “Agburu” faction of APC led by Nwafor Daniel, stating that Nwafor, Uche Nwosu and their likes are not APC members, but AA card carrying members, who worked against APC in the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Nlemigbo wondered how Nwafor Daniel, his supporters and sponsors can claim leadership of APC in Imo State when they are AA members who left the party after Uche Nwosu lost the APC gubernatorial Primary Election to Senator Hope Uzodimma, prompting them to dump APC for AA.
According to him, “it is unbelievable for those who left APC, fought it and committed anti- party offences will now claim to be its executive even when they have not formerly rejoined the party as members.
“The Federal High Court Abuja has granted an injunction restraining Nwafor Daniel and his likes from parading themselves as Imo State Executives of APC. The NEC and all authorities of the party recognized me as the State Chairman of the party and my state executive members and we have letters authorizing us”, he said
Nlemigbo however said his leadership is committed to build a stronger APC in the State and South East in general, while also extending an olive branch to all the other factions if they turn a new leaf
Adding his voice, Barr C.C Akolisa, the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General said Nwafor Daniel and his group should bury their face in shame for claiming what they are not, regretting that Nwafor told the public in 2019 that Imo State APC does not have any guber candidate in the election, asking the Agburu faction of APC to honorably resign from the party.
However, in a swift reaction to The Authority, Chief Daniel Nwafor said that the authenticity of him being the state Chairman of APC is not in dispute informing that his executive is a product of Congress and that their tenure is yet to expire.
Nwafor described Nlemigbo’s alleged state executive as people living on borrowed gown.
